"Why?" everyone asks. Why do you want to be in the mortgage business? There are endless rules and regulations... terms like "Ability to Repay" ..."qualified mortgage"...all implemented to protect you. The competition is stiff...loan officers and lenders around every corner. Simple answer is I love numbers. But it's more than that isn't it? It has to be.
It's about the people. There is nothing like helping that Navy veteran and their spouse apply for their first VA loan and seeing their expectant faces light up when giving them the approval for their mortgage. Making their experience less stressful and easing their minds through the process. Or finding just the right loan product for that person who may have lost a job during the horrible downturn in the economy when folks were getting laid off left and right but are now up and running and working again. They still want the American Dream of owning their home like they used to instead of throwing rent money out the window. I live these same dreams and have family who have run into these obstacles too. If I can help them, I am fulfilling my purpose here. That's why I do it.
Am I crazy? Sure...and I wouldn't change a thing.
Here's a little video of my time at Stearns Lending headquarters last week in Santa Ana CA.
